Our awesome team laced up their running shoes and joined the Cancer Research Race for Life, to show their commitment to this vital cause. We were proud be involved in this fantastic event and play our part in the fight against cancer.
Background
In 2002, The Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund joined forces, giving rise to the organisation we know today as Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK’s mission is straightforward: to conquer cancer once and for all.
They are largely financed by the public through community fundraising, events, and donations, with the ultimate goal of funding vital cancer research to achieve groundbreaking breakthroughs.
According to Cancer Research UK, each year, more than 700,000 individuals participate in events to show their support. In 2022/23, £415 million was allocated to fund both new and ongoing research while another £398 million was raised to fund only new research proposals.
UKEM’s contribution
Despite the devastating impact of cancer, UKEM firmly believe in the strength of collective action to fight against it. That’s why we take great joy in being involved in this event and privileged to assist Cancer Research UK in their mission to beat cancer. Congratulations to our amazing staff who gave their all on this day and raised an impressive £1345.
