
On 15th February, a gas explosion destroyed at a house in Sunderland belonging to Gentoo Housing Association. It is being reported that two people have been injured and have been taken to hospital but their injuries aren’t thought to be life-threatening.
The cause of the gas explosion, which has caused devastating damage to the property, is still being investigated by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service. You can read more about this incident here.

It has been reported by Sunderland Echo, only 4 days before this incident, that Gentoo Group and Northumbria Police have warned their residents about “cold-calling” workmen offering to fix damp issues that the Gentoo Group are experiencing across a number of their properties. The Sunderland Echo quotes “Gentoo bosses say that the impersonators are often wearing high visibility vests and will insist on gaining entry to a person’s home” and to watch out for “Cold callers offering to check for damp in your home, Offering to check your boiler, Offering to work on outstanding repairs Asking for images of your home and door”
