Jamie Ross, 35, has received a £100,000 pay-out after a glazing firm he worked for was fined for breaching health and safety laws reports the MSN.

Jamie, from Rotherham in South Yorkshire worked for PSV Glass and Glazing, using cutting tools such as a Fein cutter. He is one of twenty people who have taken legal action against the firm due to their diagnosis of Vibration White Finger.

Jamie began working for the company in 2013, using the Fein cutter on almost every job which led to him experiencing whitening from his fingertips in late 2015. He complained of the pain he was experiencing whilst handling the tool, but no action was taken. He stopped working with the tool 2019 after he was sent for an occupational health medical in February 2019.

The company did not monitor the use of the Fein cutter and had not implemented any procedures to keep the employees from risk whilst handling the tool.

A court ruled that the company failed to comply with health and safety laws leading to them receiving a £200,000 fine.

Alex Shorey, a specialist industrial injury lawyer at Irwin Mitchell who represented a number of the claimants stated, ‘we represent many people in their 30s and 40s who have gone on to develop HAVS they believe as a result of using this specific tool during their employment with PSV Glass and Glazing Limited.’
