According to a report in the Hull Daily Mail, Paul Miller, a 47-year-old man from Rillington, suffered severe injuries in a devastating head-on collision, which he described as an absolute nightmare. Sadly, as a consequence of the accident, he lost his dream job. The vehicle caught fire as Paul was nearly trapped after being hit by a minivan heading in the opposite direction. The road traffic accident was caused by a minivan driver who overtook two other cars on his side of the road to end up in the oncoming lane where Paul was.
Although the driver who caused the collision was jailed for 15 months, Paul was left devastated after his dream job as a mechanic had to be terminated due to physical problems. Miller states “My life changed on April the 2nd, and I don’t think I will ever be the same again. I have permanent nerve damage in my left hand.”
The injuries involved back pains which became worse while sitting or standing for a long time, pain in his hip, a pelvis fracture that took 11 months to heal, and degenerative knee problems. “In 48 weeks, I had done nearly 100 appointments from medical and physiotherapy. We are lucky that the insurance company has been very pragmatic with their approach to things,” he said. “I started driving in January this year, first of all daytime short distances with my wife” Paul added.
The broken bones and fractures caused by this accident have left Paul in a difficult place physically and mentally. He said it has been difficult to “come to terms with the accident and the aftermath”. Although he’s been doing his best to recover, this experience has been life-changing for the 47-year-old, who continues to recover in the hope of having his normal life back.
