It’s being reported by the Metro that the NHS trust has listed 1000 cancelled operations amid a “record” of high backlogged procedures, all cancelled over a 5 month period as a result of COVID pressures. Cancellations of operations are across the whole of the UK but the hospitals most impacted are practices within Manchester, Southampton, London and Birmingham.
Mr Ashworth (Shadow Health Secretary) says “336,000 patients had been waiting more than a year for treatment and 7,000 for more than two years.”
The list of procedures that have been mostly impacted include: General Surgery, Urology, Trauma & Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maximo-Facial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Gynecology. Read more
